The BMDCA's Rescue & Rehome Committee works with Breeder Referral, Public Relations, and Public Education committees at both national and regional levels to offer accurate information to those interested in learning about our breed.

 

Rescue-Rehoming - FAQ's...

Many Bernese Mountain Dogs in need of new homes are rehomed by regional clubs.

The number of dogs in need of rescue services at any given time in a particular region is variable.

Most BMDs requiring rehoming come from owners who no longer are able to care for them because of changing life circumstances or issues with the dog’s health or behavior.

Some rescue dogs have health or behavioral issues that require special handling and management by experienced dog owners.

Rescue group representatives review adoption applications with the goal of making a workable match between adoptive owners and the dog.

 

 

 

Regional clubs' rescue, private organizations and individuals are involved in rescue and rehoming of Bernese Mountain Dogs.

Our club's members and the extended community of Bernese Mountain Dog fanciers nationwide appreciate and support Bernese Mountain Dogs through breed rescue and rehome programs.

 

BMDCA Rescue & Rehome

The Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America National Rescue & Rehome Committee is devoted to ensuring and maintaining the health and welfare of the Bernese Mountain Dog in rescue and rehoming situations.

The BMDCA recognizes that much rescue and rehoming work is done by the regional clubs, and will work with those clubs to maintain a constant network of support and resources.
